Job description:

The Facilities Director is the facilities and maintenance lead for Stokes Nature Center and all its properties. The Facilities Director is also the primary contact for facility rentals, facility-specific grant reporting, and vehicle maintenance. The Facilities Director reports to the Executive Director and serves on the Stokes Nature Center leadership team. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Administration

  • Manage and be primary reporter on facilities-specific grants and capital projects

  • Create annual reports on the state of the facilities and vehicles

  • Create and manage facility and vehicle annual budgets

  • Manage and coordinate all facility rentals

  • Serve as the staff contact on the Facilities Committee

Facilities and Maintenance

  • Manage Nature Center facilities including, but not limited to: snow removal, mouse mitigation, landscaping, gardening, lighting, fire inspection and fire compliance, trash/debris removal, security, plumbing and water safety compliance, AED and first aid compliance, rentals, restocking supplies, and more

  • Manage Nibley Outdoor Classroom facility including, but not limited to: project management during construction phase, irrigation, invasive weed management, conservation easement compliance, infrastructure construction, tree maintenance and pruning, and volunteer oversight as needed

  • Manage Jay’s Well Park including, but not limited to: irrigation and invasive weed removal, sign installation, volunteer oversight as needed

  • Manage Stokes vehicles including, but not limited to: regular maintenance scheduling, safety compliance, vehicle training, winterization, registration and insurance renewals and compliance

  • Manage the care of the nature center critters, including feed, habitat maintenance, and acquisition of new critters when needed.

Special Projects

  • Special projects as assigned, including capital improvement projects and fundraising/development as needed

  • Lead and coordinate Canyon Jams Concert Series set-up and tear-down

  • Serve as the primary contact for the Gambler 500

Science

  • Coordinate and work with USU and other partners in utilizing SNC facilities as outposts for research, data capture, and outreach

  • Manage SNC scientific data for rigor, merit, and public dissemination

  • Recruit and train volunteers to contribute to scientific program reporting and data capture


Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities management and maintenance

  • Significant experience managing multiple projects, including community science

  • Exemplary budget, grant-reporting, and project management skills

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and public speaking skills
